Information and costs

The cost is currently £55.00 per year for a full allotment and £35.00 for half allotment.

New allotment holders pay a £100.00 deposit which which is refundable as appropriate when the tenancy ends if the allotment remains in the same or a better condition than when it was let. The application link is at the bottom of this page.  Allotment holders must have a residential address in Ulverston. We currently have a waiting list for all sites, so please submit your application and we will keep you updated. The electronic booking form will be submitted directly to the Town Council officers.

An average allotment plot is 200sq yards (approx). There are some half plots measuring 100sq. yards (approx). Whilst we expect allotments to be cultivated, we are also quite happy if they are used as gardens with a grassed area for sitting out and relaxing, as long as at least 75% of the site is used for cultivating fruit and vegetables.

What happens next?

  1. Submit your application form (link at the bottom of this page)
  2. We will acknowledge receipt of your application via our automated message.
  3. Once we have added your name to the waiting list you will receive an email to advise this.
  4. When an allotment becomes available we will notify you and put you in touch with the allotment rep so you can view the plot.
  5. We will then send you a contract and further guidance on holding your allotment plot which you will need to sign and bring into the office, together with your deposit and rent payment.
