D-Day 80 commemorative events

On 6th June we raised our D-Day 80 flag on the Town Council office and at the top of Hoad Hill next to the Sir John Barrow Monument. There was a short service at the War Memorial at 11am with around 70 attendees.

At 9.15pm a beacon was lit by the Mayor on top of Hoad Hill and shone brightly across the town. The Town Crier, Mr Peter Winston read the D-Day Tribute and the Last Post was sounded by a member of Ulverston Town band.
