Ulverston Town Council Office, County Square, Ulverston, Cumbria LA12 7LZ
Ulverston’s Conservation Area exists to manage and protect the special architectural and historic interest of the town – in other words, the features that make it unique. Every local authority in England has at least one conservation area and there are around 10,000 in England. The conservation area was originally designated by South Lakeland District Council, which has since changed to Westmorland and Furness Council when the councils merged to become the Unitary Council on 1 April 2023. Westmorland and Furness Council are now the planning authority.
Much of Ulverston town centre is designated within the conservation area, which is shown in the map below.
If you have any queries about what you are permitted to do with a listed building, a shop frontage or if you have any other queries, then please speak to Westmorland and Furness Council who are the local planning authority. You can call them on 0300 373 3300.
